You will NOT want to miss this one! Sat April 9 we head out on a big comfy coach bus for a one day Friendly event with the Rochester Curling Club. This event is designed especially for NEW CURLERS who want to experience real curling ice and an awesome club atmosphere! Date: Saturday April 9 Cost: $60 per adult curler, $10 per youth curler*, $10 per fan. *NOTE: youth curlers are required to have one parent or legal guardian accompanying them. Fees are BUS fees. All curlers are required to pay the bus fee regardless of mode of transportation. There is NO ICE FEE – Rochester very generously donates their ice to us for this event. Who can curl? This event is open to Pittsburgh Curling Club members only.  If the event does not fill with 32 curlers 2 weeks prior to the trip, we’ll open it up to Social Members with curling experience. How to sign up? We’re limited to 32 curlers – so the first 32 SIGNED UP AND PAID are in! Signups are on the glass at the ice. We’ll have an envelope there for payment.  If you pay with cash, PLEASE get someone to mark the sheet – always gotta be careful with that stuff. What does the winning club get?: The winning club gets to LEAVE BEHIND the most hideous anti-trophy ever. Currently that baby resides in Pittsburgh – auhghhhhh – MAKE IT GO AWAY!!!!!!!  So get your butts and brooms out onto the ice and help us WIN!! Details, picky stuff, and threats: Pickup: We pick up on Neville Island, Cranberry and Grove City Outlets. Scroll below to see times and exact locations. Curling Format: There will be 4 draws (likely 6 ends). Each curler will play 2 draws. We generally match up newer curlers with more experienced skips although we’ll certainly entertain requests to curl together. We’ll set up teams on the bus. Meals: We provide a pot luck lunch and Rochester provides a delicious dinner. Marie will assign you a food item to bring (not tricky, don’t worry) unless you have something specific in mind. When we arrive, the first group of curlers will immediately hit the ice, while the second crew will set up lunch and eat. Then we swap. Dinner is served around 5P. Waivers: will be required. We’ll have them on the bus. Youth requires a parental signature. Shoes: (more…)
