TropiCurl is a 48-team Open Format bonspiel hosted by the Pittsburgh Curling Club.
Registration for the event begins in January 2014.
We’ll be looking for LOTS of volunteers from our club (as well as entries into the spiel!) There will be more information coming in the months ahead and we’ll start recruiting help before our regular curling season ends.
TropiCurl is a major fundraising event for the PCC – so please consider volunteering – WE NEED YOU!!

It’s the Annual Venture Outdoors Festival!
Sunday May 17th Point State Park
11A – 6P
This well-attended event is a great showcase for the Pittsburgh Curling Club! We set up a booth with general curling info and use our travel “wheelie” rocks for demonstration.
We’ll have more information as the date approaches – but if you’d like to volunteer for all or part of the day – we’d love to have you! Contact Marie: firstname.lastname@example.org
You will NOT want to miss this one!
Sat April 5 we head out from RMUISC (or Cranberry area) on a big comfy coach bus for a one day Friendly event with the Rochester Curling Club.
This event is designed especially for NEW CURLERS who want to experience a real curling ice and an awesome club atmosphere!
We can take 32 curlers and some fans (it’s a 50 person bus).
Depart RMUISC 6:30A sharp – so sharp you’ll cut yourself (many threats to come)
Return: ~11P at RMUISC
Cost: $60 per adult – this is for the bus. There will be a bus charge for fans – we’ll get this posted as soon as we have the info. Rochester GENEROUSLY donates their ice to us.
Format: Open event to PCC members only – it’s PCC vs RCC in a point spiel format. We’ll set the teams on the bus. Each team will play 2 matches. Club with the most points does NOT take home the hideous anti-trophy.
Responsibilities: We supply a pot luck lunch so you will be asked to bring an item to share (ex: salads, lunchmeats/cheeses, desserts)
Waivers: you will be required to sign waivers for Rochester.
Additional: Broomstacking – after the match, the teams sit together at a designated table with winners buying the first round for both teams. Rochester has a bar on site so please bring ID.
Clothing: SHOES: You MUST wear meticulously clean shoes on Rochester’s ice if you are not wearing curling shoes. Rochester may require you to wear grippers (they have loaners). Ice air temps are usually lower 40′s.
Bus: You may bring anything you like on the bus including snacks and all types of beverages. There is a bathroom on the bus. This is a 50 passenger bus so don’t plan on hogging several seats.
SIGNUPS WILL BEGIN EARLY FEBRUARY. Your CHECK holds your spot. Checks should be made out to Pittsburgh Curling Club.
LOTS OF INFO TO COME! Additional questions? email Marie: email@example.com
